There, the plant grows in tropical rainforests. Nowadays, Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' is cultivated worldwide as an indoor plant.
The Ficus elastica 'Robusta' is a popular indoor plant due to its distinctive features. The plant has large, glossy, deep dark green leaves. Furthermore, under good conditions, the plant can grow up to 30 meters tall, but indoors it usually remains limited to a height of 2 to 3 meters. The stem of the Ficus elastica 'Robusta' is thick and woody.
Caring for the Ficus elastica 'Robusta' requires some attention. The plant loves plenty of light, but not direct sunlight. In addition, the plant prefers a constant temperature and high humidity, which is typical for its natural, tropical habitat. Keep the soil well moist, but avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
