This plant species has its origins in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia, where it grows in tropical rainforests. Today, the Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' is cultivated worldwide as a houseplant.
The Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' has large, glossy leaves that display a rich, dark red to almost black color. This color gives the plant a unique, striking appearance. Under the right conditions, this type of rubber tree can grow to a height of two to three meters. The Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' develops into a strong and robust plant that can grow quickly.

The Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' needs sufficient indirect sunlight to grow well. It is important to keep the soil moist, but too much water can cause root rot.
