The Ficus elastica 'Abidjan', also known as the rubber tree, originates from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. This plant species has its origins in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. There, the plant grows in tropical rainforests. Today, Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' is cultivated worldwide as a houseplant.
Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' has large, glossy leaves that display a rich, dark red to almost black color. This color gives the plant a unique, striking appearance. Under the right conditions, this type of rubber tree can grow to a height of two to three meters. The Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' develops into a strong and robust plant that can grow quickly.
Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' requires sufficient indirect sunlight to grow well. It is important to keep the soil moist, but too much water can cause root rot.
