The simple yet high-quality MAY collection is made of powder-coated steel. The durable furniture family consists of stackable chairs with and without armrests, lounge chairs, garden benches, and garden tables in various sizes, all harmoniously coordinated and complementary. The understated, monochromatic appearance of the MAY collection is rich in detail without being overly technical. The chair leads the way for the defining interactions of the design, where a delicate surface meets a bold frame – two opposing elements that somehow comfortably coexist.

The lightweight steel sheet, which wraps tightly around the chunky steel frame, forms a strong and comfortable seat that is slightly curved to gently cradle the body. A slit in the seat allows for water drainage and is a subtle detail on the otherwise uniform surface. Mirrored in the tables, it creates a repetition of lines that lends the family lightness, charm, and unity.

Designers Hannes & Fritz:

Hannes & Fritz is the design studio of Johannes Breuer and Fritz Gräber. With Johannes in Stuttgart and Fritz in Zurich, they develop each project through a mix of individual and collaborative work in different cities. Both have very similar skills and common interests, but each brings their own unique perspective to their shared projects: Johannes' tendency to be more linear and emblematic, and Fritz's more dynamic and expressive design language. Taken together, the results are more interesting than what either designer could have achieved individually.
