There, the plant grows in tropical rainforests. Nowadays, the Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' is cultivated worldwide as a houseplant.
The Ficus elastica 'Robusta' is a popular houseplant due to its characteristic features. The plant has large, glossy leaves that are deep dark green. Furthermore, the plant can grow up to 30 meters tall under good conditions, but usually remains limited to a height of 2 to 3 meters indoors. The trunk of the Ficus elastica 'Robusta' is thick and woody.
Caring for the Ficus elastica 'Robusta' requires some attention. The plant loves plenty of light, but no direct sunlight. In addition, the plant prefers a constant temperature and high humidity, which is typical for its natural, tropical habitat. Keep the soil well moist, but avoid water damage to prevent root rot.
