The extraordinary PUYI vase is the result of a collaboration between the acclaimed Dutch designer Roderick Vos and Pols Potten. Every line, curve, shape, and form of the vase has been carefully considered in relation to its primary inspiration: the Imperial Palace, also known as the Forbidden City or "Gugong."
The Forbidden City was the imperial residence and the center of the empire during the reign of 24 emperors, 14 in the Ming and 10 in the Qing dynasties, who resided and ruled from this palace for 491 years, until Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty and China, made it the largest and best-preserved ancient structure in China. The key elements of the PUYI vase represent the aesthetic of the imperial palace.
Roderick conducted extensive research and went to great lengths to bring his creations to life. He traveled to the places that influenced his designs. The PUYI vase is an exceptional product of an artist deeply immersed in his craft.
