The then small Community of Wellbeing started in 1993 when Gary Young first began growing and distilling his own herbs. Gary had already recognized the tremendous potential of essential oils, but due to the fluctuating quality of the oils available to date, he had not yet been able to fully realize it. He knew the fantastic power of pure essential oils, but at the same time realized that chemically altered or blended oils were mostly ineffective or even harmful.

With Young Living, everything changed. After Gary developed additional farmland in Utah and Idaho, he began growing lavender, peppermint, lemon balm, clary sage, and many other herbs.
