Origin: The Dracaena fragrans 'Compacta', often known as the Corn Plant, originally comes from tropical parts of Africa, particularly West Africa. Despite this exotic origin, the plant is cultivated worldwide as a popular houseplant and can therefore be found in many climate zones.
Position: Dracaenas are true shade plants. They need a maximum of 3 hours of direct sunlight per day. If the Dracaena is to be placed near a window, it is advisable to start in winter. The plant can then be gradually moved closer to the window so that it can tolerate direct sunlight in summer. Colorful specimens such as the Dracaena (Pleomele) Song of India like a sunny spot.
